Document Summary
Phases of mitosis: prophase, pro-metaphase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. The ones closest to the pole are the same. Conclusion: microtubules shorten at one end at the kinetochore. Is there an error in this gure: the non-kinetochore microtubules are shortening, wrong because the lengthen the cells and open up the cell! !2 pole and broken down as it goes. Set up #1: cell fusion - fuse m-phase cells with g, s or g2 phase cells. Prediction #1: interphase cells will being m phase. Result #1: chromosomes in interphase cell condense signalling start of m phase: something in cell in m-phase signals the interphase cell to go and thicken their chromosomes expanded on . Set up #2: microinjection - inject cytoplasm from m-phase cell into one frog oocyte and cytoplasm from interphase cell into another frog oocyte. Prediction #2: one or both of the frog oocytes will begin m phase.
