Document Summary

Theme 2: from gene to protein module 3: translation. Identify the molecular components that are needed for translation: explain the role played by the interacting molecular during the translation process, understand how all proteins are encoded for in a specific dna sequence. Unit 1 molecular components contribute to translation. Translation required many components: messenger rna( mrna) Each trna is made up of a single rna strand ranging between 70- 90 nucleotides in length. 3" end has the amino acid attachment site. Actual site for an attachment during a process called trna molecule activation. 20 different enzymes for each amino acid: using the energy from atp the enzyme can catalyze the covalent attachment between the amino acid and the trna molecule. Known as wobble and helps explain the redundancy of the genetic code. Unit 2 translation occurs in the cytosol of the cell.
