We see an increase in syncretism in religious and secular domains, called cultural appropriation (cross-cultural borrowing) Increasing in the level of knowledge and interest in other cultures. Widespread ecumenic and cultural process (has a very long history; accelerating) Refers to increasing interconnectedness as a result of changes in technology, communications, growth of tourism, transportation, free trade agreements, etc. In terms of culture leads to increasing rates of cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation can be regarded as a theft . Indigenous material culture (any original population in any part of the world) Sara baartman (from tribe in south africa) Met a man who appropriated her body and brought her to america to show her off to people, then leave her back at her home. Being brought around by people b/c of being labelled an exotic figure. Inukshuk (canadian symbol); problem is that this image is associated with inuit culture.
