Women set rigid standards for housework, which keeps their dominance in the private-sphere. Women are not keen on giving this role up. Puts forth that labor is done on the basis of individual"s differences: power relations. Household member"s resources are relative to each other. People have all sorts of different resources within a relationship. One may have more resources than the other and therefore is able to avoid certain things. He has more resources, so i do more housework . People are interested in maximizing what"s best for the household. Different resources are being brought into the home by each partner. Works better if only 1 person is in the labor market. If she brings in more resources you would think he would do more housework, but this does not work the same way: rational allocation. Men and women do domestic labor by responding to the demand.
