Usually focusing on moivaing youth (in terms of moivaing others) because many of us have had this experience- tutors, younger siblings, camp etc. 3 main things: ofer rewards, give praise, start compeiions. All 3 of those things can be things that kids respond to, and excite kids, but important to disinguish short-term and long-term efects of these techniques. Also important to disinguish intrinsic and extrinsic moivaion. Extrinsic moivaion will stunt their growth decreases. Undermines moivaion because it comes across as trying to control. In terms of rewards: when you use rewards you may feel like you are manipulaing/bribing. Praise is diferent: we feel comfortable using praise. Most of us have not have second thoughts about giving thoughts- we praise kids a lot. His nephew kevin seemed gited when he was 2 or 3.
