PSYC 332 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Comfort Object, 6 Years, Psychoanalysis
Document Summary
Level 2 constructs that we learn in our family. Attachment and autonomy are separate constructs and assessed differently but there are links between them. The model mcadams puts forward- he says the self as actor, agent and author. These 3 roles relate to first layer, second layer and third layer. Actor is all about big 5 traits- consistencies in our social and emotional behaviour- the level most studied but mcadams says it"s only the first layer. Established at a young age- to a large extent genetic determined than impacted by parenting styles. Started with big 5 and now moving to second layer- agent. Term he uses for it is personal concerns and has to do with motivational developmental aspects of personality. Personal concerns- different from traits as they change over our life time, most influenced by early upbringing and more motivational and developmental.
