Person says to do a cheap brain scan first. A computer assisted x-ray procedure used to visualize the brain. The patient lies with his/her head positioned in the centre of a large cylinder. An x-ray beam is projected through the head to an x-ray detector. The x-ray bean scans the head from all angles. A computer translates the info. received from the x-ray detector into a series of pictures of the skull and brain. Cheap x-ray scan- poor resolution- good for hard tissue like teeth and bone- but for gross problems in brain anatomy it isn"t good. If the doctor thinks that a ct scan is suggestive that there is something there, they might follow up with the more expensive mri scan. A series of ct scans from a patient w/a lesion in the right occipital parietal area: The patient lies with his/her whole body positioned in the centre of a large cylinder.
