Document Summary

Traveling to lymphoid tissues & visualising antigen presentation. Today we will be focussing on homing to the lymph node and activating t cells. Big picture view of link between the innate and adaptive is: dendritic cell activation of antigen-specific t cells in lymphoid tissue. T cell migration to the lymph node. Dcs form the bridge between the innate and adaptive immune responses. They travel from the site of infection to lymphoid tissue. In the diagram above (inflammation section), we have dcs that have encountered antigen and have been activated at the site of infection. They have picked up antigen and now they are going to migrate to the ln via lymphatic vessels. The lymphatic vessels are found all throughout our body. Dcs express receptors that target them to lymphoid tissue. Antigen presentation: activation of cd4 (th) and cd8 (tc) t cells. Once in the ln, dcs present antigen on mhc to t cells.
