Municipal statues, social hierarchy and discrimination in spain (against religions assigned specific roles to each catholics game themselves the best roles) Started mid 11th century (1050-1492); important and long war shaped institutions, attitudes and mentalities of the iberians and they translated that into how they handled latin america. For about 300 years the muslims dominated the peninsula small parts were catholic; remnants of visigoths, gauls, or celtics. Started with small battles over parts of lands over grazing and agricultural lands; gave them religious meaning fighting for land and against non-catholics.
