Increasingly significant role of research in 20th century. Only small number of doctors who were researchers in 19th century few thought they were advancing knowledge. For teaching as well: based on following around the clinician and learning conventional knowledge at the bedside. Abusive experimentation was not only about racism or exploitation. Racism and exploitation did however play some role. It is about the spread of scientific research. Human experimentation provided little reaction of the sort: animal experimentation so brutalized the researcher that they would eventually end up doing the same on human beings. Limitatio(cid:374)s to a(cid:374)i(cid:373)als (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause they did(cid:374)"t yet k(cid:374)o(cid:449) (cid:449)hi(cid:272)h a(cid:374)i(cid:373)als applied to hu(cid:373)a(cid:374) (cid:271)ei(cid:374)gs the best. Fairly brutal: destroyed organs and saw what functional loss & deficits were, most of the time they had to be put to death at the end of it, human experimentation very rarely led to this.
