For teaching as well: based on following around the clinician and learning conventional knowledge at the bedside. Abusive experimentation was not only about racism or exploitation. Racism and exploitation did however play some role. It is about the spread of scientific research. Human experimentation provided little reaction of the sort: animal experimentation so brutalized the researcher that they would eventually end up doing the same on human beings. Fairly brutal: destroyed organs and saw what functional loss & deficits were, most of the time they had to be put to death at the end of it, human experimentation very rarely led to this.
