Some women were voting in western states, but no women had an amendment. Had been fighting since the mid 19th century. Wilson: had a lot of progressive friends that explained he would give women the right to vote. Not all women can vote: women"s suffrage: not all women can vote, gets enacted in 1920. Some women see this as a small fraction of women"s rights. Not a monumental political shift that women expected, realized it didn"t change much. Equal rights amendment: no one in the united states can be discriminated based upon their sex and the government must help enforce this o. First proposed by the feminist alliance in 1914. If a woman marries a man from another country they lose their us citizenship. Divides the women with the equal rights amendment, a lot of women activists are pushing against this.
