Document Summary

North american agriculture produces 3900 calories per person per day - unnecessary. When we eat sucrose, it splits into two in the digestive tract and the glucose and fructose are absorbed into the bloodstream. Both are used for energy but metabolized differently. Fructose is regarded as a bigger player in the weight gain business. Goes to the liver, can be used as energy but harder to be used as energy than glucose and more often converted into fat and builds up in the liver and other parts of the body. Fructose does not blunt appetite like other sugars. When we consume other sugar, our body becomes satisfied but this does not happen with fructose. Fructose is processed in a different manner than glucose; as a consequence it is more readily stored as fat. In addition, it is believed that fructose does not blunt the appetite as well as other sugars do.
