Document Summary
Heredity: children resemble their parents, siblings are not identical. Nb: characters are different qualities like hair color, height and each of those characters have different traits like light or darker skin color . There is a probabilistic element (of chance) that goes into heredity patterns -mendel. Continuous variation: there are a seemingly infinite number of traits for a given character. These traits fall along a continuous spectrum (i. e. height, skin color). Discrete variation: there are only two or a few traits for a given character. (fur color in mice, only 3 white, brown and black). (used for studies in lab to discover a pattern of inheritance) Start with peas of a flower because it is possible to control the crosses by taking the pollen from one pea and fertilize another pea (pea flower cross-pollination) Pea plants produce a lot of pea pod that have a lot of peas advantage since large number of progenies easier to see a pattern.
