Luke presents an idealized picture of the jerusalem community. It is a community full of the spirit, that prays, teaches, and completely shares its wealth. In between the community panels are reports of persecution. In luke (and not the other gospels), jesus has three trials. The account of stephen"s death has parallels to that of jesus"s arrest and death. The jewish leadership is repeating its action against jesus. But he said to them, "if i tell you, you will not believe; and if i ask you, you will not answer. But from now on the son of man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of god. " And they all said, "are you the son of god, then?" And he said to them, "you say that i am. We have heard it ourselves from his own lips. " (luke 22:67-71 nrsv)
