SOEN 228 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Clock Signal, Asynchronous Circuit, Sequential Circuits
Document Summary
These review notes are not intended to replace your own note taking. Writing your own notes in your own words is a valuable learning tool and is also often required at the workplace (where it is called documentation). In addition, writing notes often helps both the learning process and the duration that material stays in memory. Think of note taking as early exam preparation. In the second week we introduced the latch. The latch is a feedback circuit used to store a single state or value (in this case either a 0 or a 1). The state is often represented by the symbol q. Due to the construction of the latch the value of q and not q are both available internally. The design we focused on in class is the sr-latch. The when the control signal (cid:862)s(cid:863) is true it will set the value of q to be 1.
