While these newer technologies enhanced or technology-based approaches are increasingly popular, it is still true today that the largest proportion of training, overall, is still delivered via relatively traditional means. Therefore, an understanding of how to design and deliver effective face-to-face instruction is still very much a bread and butter issue for most training and development organizations. This lesson presents the advantages and disadvantages of the most common on-the-job training delivery methods. Formalized, structured, and systematic approach to on-the-job training (ojt). Step 1: preparation: develop communication strategy that fits trainee, determine what trainee already knows and nature of the tasks to be performed, stages, put trainee at ease, guarantee the learning, build interest and show personal advantage. Step 2: instruction: telling, showing, explaining, and demonstrating the tasks, show trainee how to perform the tasks, repeat and explain key points in detail, allow trainee to see whole job again.
