Compassionate delivery of care is easy to articulate. Compassion is simply something we do and the right way to behave. Building relationships results in loss of professional objectivity. Attending to the suffering of others definition relational activity: The way in which we relate to other human beings when that are vulnerable. It involves noticing another person"s vulnerability, experiencing an emotional reaction to this and acting in some way with the person, in a way that is meaningful for people. It is defined by the people who give and receive it and therefore interpersonal processes that capture what it means to people, are an important element in its promotion. Simple, not clever; basic not exquisite; peripheral not central. Move beyond the virtue script in nursing. Knowledge required of what underpins concept of compassion.
