Week 3: formulating research questions, research proposals and report writing. To begin formulating a research question we have to understand the direct and indirect factors that affect its construction. The social work profession: our questions are geared towards our client, research questions that increase our knowledge base, research questions that evaluate our social work interventions. Good research questions are needed both to determine the effective ways of helping people, and to evaluate the usefulness of our social service programs currently being funded. The purpose of social work program, is to salvage human lives. We are now empowered to evaluate our own programs in light of our own value systems. If our profession wishes to make it up the status ladder, its driving force must be accountability. The way to achieve accountability is by answering well- formulated and well thought out research questions.
