People with disabilities were institutionalized and taken away from their. Eugenics came from nazi germany, but have very deep roots in america families. Here, they stayed for up to 50 years and were trained to work on the farms and shops in the institution. Almost every province in canada had an institution for people with concerning people with disabilities. April 1, 2016 disabilities (blind, deaf, mental disabilities, etc. ) In these institutions a lot of bad things happened (like in residential schools) and people are now coming back for the damage that was done through the care, or lack of care, in these institutions. Some common assumptions about people with disabilities: they are unemployable, over 75 years old. limitation yielding a disability rate of 14. 3% to aids and hiv, we stigmatized gays as having hiv. 4. 4 million canadians living in households reported having an activity.
