Experiment: when they take the wing off the chick to see what happens to motor neurons: when you took the wing off, no motor neurons would grow on that side of the spinal cord. Pyknotic cells cells that are on their final stages of apoptosis: this means that it is really hard for us to see the process. It looks like the nucleus is collapsing on itself. As the number of pyknotic cells increases, the number of motor neurons decrease. The disappearance of pyknotic cells is facilitated by the appearance of microglia (which dismantle its components, in the nervous system)
