Minority groups found themselves at the low end of the socio-economic scale and cannot protect themselves. The best way to deal with the state"s power and for protection is through the dp model: he focused on specific acts of police abuse. These cases where police abuse their powers against minority groups and we focus from these individual cases to the systematic outcomes of the cjs. It is happening throughout the system rather than just individual cases: despite the rise of dp in the u. s in the late 60"s there is still an overrepresentation of minority groups in the cjs. Black males are the highest per capita persons who are incarcerated in the u. s: in canada, aboriginals make up a small amount of our population yet they are significantly overrepresented within our cjs. So we are no better than the u. s. Individual cases might change (run of the mill cases) but not on a grander scale.
