Flint, michigan is a very industrial city, problems occurred. Population decreased, financed decreased as a result. They made a decision (to save a few million dollars): From detroit river/lake huron flint river. Water could potentially be less clean than the previous location. Environmental impact (animals in that source threatened) The water from the new source had a low ph, and a high chloride level. Even general motors stopped using the new water because it corroded their cars, and started importing water from elsewhere. In jan 2015, they made an offer to switch back to the original water source to solve this problem. However, the city officials declined this offer, saying this water is fine (in denial) ** one in six flint homes has lead levels above the epa"s action level. **the flint river water was found to be 19x more corrosive than the detroit river.
