Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things. peter. Manager is the coach who develops the strategy to maximize the efficiency using the same rules to the game. Leader would be changing the rules to the game. Patrick roy pulled the goalie for long periods of time to excite the crowd. Traditional view of leaders transformational leaders (needed when companies are not doing well) Managers, not breaking the boundaries transactional leaders (needed when companies are doing well, improve current efficiency) Leader doesn"t know the solution as to why the product doesn"t push. Need people on the floor who interact with customers to figure this out. When things are going well, it"s easy to be a leader. When shit hits the fan you can really differentiate between a good leader and a bad leader. Focuses on 2-way relationship between supervisor and subordinate. As a follower prof preferred to have low relationship considering mba is very demanding.
