Qualitative: process-driven, words, participants view, nearness, theory building, unstructured, rich data, meaning/experience and feelings, micro. Quantitative: numbers, research"s view, distance, theory testing, programmatic, structured, reliable data, behaviour, macro. Variables you start with a selection of variables. Has to be representative of the group. Inductive data is analyzed to generate theoretical concepts. Understanding research setting from the members of that setting. Sensitize the researcher to what is relevant, but are likely to be revised as the researcher gains new insight. They don"t want to influence their data.
