Social mechanism, phenomenon or category created and developed by society being a perception of individual, group or idea that is constructed through cultural or social practice. Black dog syndrome: high euthanasia rate, and low adoption rates within animal shelters (especially large black dogs, in animal shelters, construction of blackness in western societies informing peoples view on black animals. Pig: put into the food animal category, cognitively and same personalities to dog but portrayed as stupid. *examples shown to identify and name sociological construction, know how oppression happens to fight against it. 1)debate: person or property (soci 4p64 animals and the law) Animals social constructed as property under the laws. Topics may include ideas of justice, animal protection, animal abuse and violence, commodification and property status of animals. Legal rights for animals, wildlife trade, endangered species, international laws, and animal cruelty. Canadian law is anthropocentric (animals categorized as property)
