The most important things that managers do is make decisions. Managers must plan, organize, lead and control organizational resources such as money people and time. First line managers: train motivate and evaluate individual employees, manage daily processes. Maslows theory of needs: claims that the following needs must be met in order. Esteem: need for self-respect and respect for others. Self-actualization: need for fulfillment, to realize full potential. You must satisfy needs of one level before another. Workers dislike work and try to avoid it. The capacity for imagination, creativity, and ingenuity is widely distributed in the population. The intellectual capacity of the average worker is underutilized. Creating jobs with meaningful content and creative work. Centres on relationship between effort, individual performance, and individual need. Centres on the perception of fairness and how it directly impacts workers motivation. Core to effective management, best plans keep organization on track but flexible.
