Capitalists need healthy, socialized, productive workers on a daily & intergenerational basis. Work of social reproduction ensures that people are ready for paid work every day: they"re clothed, fed, adequately rested, ready for work (daily reproduction) Work of social reproduction ensures that when today"s workers die, there will be others to take their place (intergenerational production) Wage labour, expenditure of labour to produce goods & services in return for a wage. Social reproduction produces workers through expenditure of labour and consumption of goods & services. Most work of social reproduction occurs inside the home. Work can also be purchased in the market/private sector as a service. Can also be provided by the state (government)
