Ling 3p90 lecture 4: language sample analysis within utterances. Clinicians can learn about a childs semantics, morphology and syntax, pragmatics/use: semantic/content analysis. Sometimes can recognize a picture but don"t have the word for it. If they understand a word, they should be able to say it. Basically, there are different levels of understanding what a word is. Kids with language important are poor at referential language. Have trouble when things have more than one(similar) word (show, flipflop, Have to understand what makes the difference between the words. Relational: meaning relationships (expressed by words in relation to aspects in the environment or by words in relation to other words) Hard because there are many variables you can classify them under. Problems with opposites (bc you have to understand what an opposite is and features) Things that go together (sock and shoe) takes word further than just. Which words you can and cannot put together.
