Composition of students with disabilities over 50% of exceptionalities. 80% of ld are reading disabilities: dyslexia, have a problem with putting sounds together. Reading is not a natural process it is learned: reading put our words onto paper. Not much is happening in the left hemisphere as opposed to the right hemisphere. Weak activation in the left hemisphere & over-activation in the right hemisphere: right hemisphere is about visuals something in the left hemisphere is not processing properly. Neural ectopia: appearance of neurons or group of neurons in a region where it is not normally found. Clumping up and disorganization of brain cells in left hemisphere. Cell migration theory: premature interruption of cell migration in the left hemisphere is associated with rd, cells don"t get where they are supposed to go so they clump up, leads to ectopia which leads to processing.
