Intrinsic motivation is due to internal factors, or the self-desire to seek out success: extrinsic motivation is due to external factors. When individuals seek to attain a desired outcome which drives their hard work. Maslo(cid:449)"s hie(cid:396)a(cid:396)(cid:272)h(cid:455) of needs: people are motivated to satisfy lower needs before they try to satisfy higher needs, lower order needs (physiological and safety) are satisfied externally. Eg, pay: higher order needs (social, esteem and self-actualisation) are satisfied internally.
