Week 8- teacher ethics (character, virtue and care) --socrates: we are speaking of no small matter, but how we ought to live. ". --these different perspectives allow us to develop a more nuanced account of ethical action and judgement. What makes an act right"? (continued from last week) --that it was performed out of a will to obey the moral law (that which we have a duty to obey because it is the moral law) the intrinsically morally good will. --the categorical imperative: always act such that you would will that the maxim that informed your actions become a universal law. --the categorical imperative (b), the principle of dignity (profound worth): So act as to treat humanity, whether in your own person or in that of any other, in every case as an end, and never as merely a means only.
