Document Summary

Circulation: describe & discuss the similarities & differences between open & closed circulatory systems. The fluid returns directly to the heart through openings called ostia. Small solutes and water leave the blood for it to be penetrate through vessel & tissue. Systemic vena cava right atrium right ventricle pulmonary artery. Pulmonary pulmonary vein left atrium left ventricle aorta: briefly relate structure to function of cardiac valves & muscle. Systole phase is the contraction of ventricles to pump blood out through aorta and pulmonary artery. Diastole is the contraction of atria (cid:858)lu(cid:271)(cid:859) shutting of atrioventricular valves as blood is pushed from atria to ventricles (cid:858)du(cid:271)(cid:859) shutting of semilunar valves as blood is pumped from ventricles to arteries. The sphygmomanometers increase pressure around the measured arm to temporarily block the blood flow. Then it will gradually decrease until the first sound of flow (tapping) is detected and record the pressure as systolic pressure.
