Do not recognize these patterns when reading, so do not apply them when composing their own. Address these needs in instruction: constraints of topic, audience needs, text organization. Employing strategies specific to the writing domain. Focus for students with ld seems to emphasize mechanics (grammar, punctuations, spelling, handwriting, etc) Should rather focus on clarity of meaning. Attending to obstacles like how to spell a word or write a letter can interfere with their writing flow. Handwriting not fast enough to keep up with their thought process.
