Option for students with disabilities, part of rti, used to support ells, to provide speech/language therapy, other related services, field experiences with student teachers etc. Co-teaching = a service delivery option for providing specialized services to students with disabilities or other special needs while they remain in their general education classes. When two or more professionals with distinctly different areas of expertise jointly deliver core or supplemental instruction to a diverse, blended group of students, primarily in a single physical space. 2+ professionals with different primary areas of expertise. Excludes paras they should be providing support more than co- teaching. More differentiated instruction and more contextualized education for students with special needs. More opportunities for more effective and detailed data collection. Jointly decide on what notes to take and students/concepts to look for throughout lessons. Drawback: one often seen as role of assistant . Clarify that class is led by 2 teachers.
