ME 2733 Chapter : Chapter 9
Document Summary
When creating the product a bill of materials (bom) must be made. During the development of form the first objective is to understand the constraints of. Once an idea has been thought up and formed it must go through a product design phase. In this phase, ideas should be refined to form actual products. Throughout this process the concepts and product must go through evaluation multiple times. After every evaluation the product is patched and improved from this patch. Every patch is a new generation of the product. Only with a proper understanding of the design can a good-quality product be produced. To be able to do this, the function, form, materials, and production technique are all integral elements of the product that must first be considered and understood. Even though these are considered during designing, when actual production occurs there are limitations on manufacturing and assembly that must be bypassed with new solutions.
