I personally think people are more willing to disclose private matters through cmc. I know that i would rather tell somebody something that might be very sensitive over a text because i don t have to deal with the direct reactions or see their facial expressions. This also allows people time to come up with a well thought out response since they do not have to reply immediately. I do know that many people prefer the social presence theory which describes the closeness you only receive in face-to-face communication. In some instances, i do prefer this method because it will allow my to soften the blow or provide comfort for the message. None of my relationships are computer-only, probably because of the media richness theory. I like to get to know people on a more genuine level that i think requires a face-to-face interaction.
