Document Summary

Microbes = can exist as unicellular prokaryotes and eukaryotes (too small to be seen with naked eye) most species on earth are like this. Most eukaryotes are unicellular prokaryotic cell types evolved to become the first eukaryotic cells on planet (happened about 2 billion years ago) Theory of endosymbiosis ( symbio = two species living very close together) 1950s theory (lyn biogoolas?) One cell ate another cell w/ a mitochondria: we have nuclear genome and also circular mitochondrial genome (that is in prokaryotes) Chloroplasts come from same kind of process (look into how produced in eukaryotic organism) **all eukaryotic cells have mitochondria (higher plants that have this also have chloroplasts to photosynthesize (there are exceptions ) Plants have three genomes (two from above nuclear and mitochondrial chloroplast mitochondrial genome, which is also circular) Higher plants = multicellular, eukaryotic plants that can do photosynthesis. For 2 billion years after life began, only at prokaryotic form.
