Age set - this refers to a social category, or a group within a corporate setting, that is made up of people that have a similar age. In addition, the people would have a common identity and they will maintain close ties with one another throughout a prolonged period of time. In essence, such individuals will typically go through a series of age-related statuses together and at the same time. Big man - the concept of a big man refers to a person within a tribe that has an extreme amount of influence. This term is especially important within the tribes of melanesia and polynesia. People who are a big man may not actually belong to a formal tribe or have any type of ascribed authority, but they can achieve this recognition and keep it through sheer persuasion and wisdom. The big man typically develops a large group of followers, from within his own clan and those of others.
