Health psychology: an interdisciplinary area in psychology which focuses on the causes, treatment of illness, prevention of illness and health improvement. Women"s presentation of symptoms is different and often considered deviations from the norm. Diseases which are more concentrated in women have not been given the same level of attention. The one subsection of illnesses which has been studied in women the most is the one related to their reproductive systems. Chronic health problem: long-lasting illness which cannot be completely cred more prevalent in older women. Factors for female high life-expectancy: tendency to visit doctors more often, second x chromosome protects against some illnesses, males are at a higher risk for work injuries and high-risk activities. Morbidity: generalized poor health or illness higher for females due to higher risk of abuse, rape and poverty. They also live longer and report more problems. U. s. spends the most on a person"s health care, but the life expectancy length is very low.
