Two factor view of intelligence: sheldon from big bang theory; he cannot drive a car, or understand how to make a friend, yet at the same time he is brilliant in other areas. Thurstone & primary mental abilities: argued intelligence made up of 7 distinct mental abilities: primary mental abilities. & experiential components (aka analytic, creative & practical) effective interactions w/ all 3 = achieving successful intelligence. Several independent intelligences: different intelligences come from different areas of the brain, damage to specific areas does not necessarily lead to universal collapse of mental functioning. Internal: processing of info, acquiring info; planning, monitoring, evaluating problems. External: required creativity, some tasks novel, that it requires a special way of thinking. Experiential: thinking that helps us adapt/improve to our envio.
