Par: unique and emerging research that not only co-generates knowledge with participants but results in practical outcomes for participants. Only starting to gain momentum in kinesiology. In response to a distrust of traditional post positivist research that typically does not includes participants as active agents in production of knowledge. Post-positivist worldview research seen as inadequate in providing insight into social and cultural issues. Research is conducted alongside or with participants rather than on them. Approached by researchers with political or social agendas. Action research: broader framework that encompasses par and the various other approaches. De ned as the sum of its individual terms: all people are involves in all phases of the research process, action to create postive change, social process od gathering and asserting knowledge. Not necessary to includes all features to be par. The way it is carried out also varies on the academic discipline. Par is not linear: somewhat cyclical and iterative process.
