Embryonic cells: chromosomal threads split lengthwise b/fr cell division. Each newly forming daughter cells gets half of split thread. Mitosis: then get nuclear division and cell division = 2 daughter cells w/ same number + type of chromosomes as original parent. Meiosis: chromosome composing each pair is segregated = gametes only get one chromosome from each chromosome pair.
