Human relation skills are translated into social and therapeutic communications when there is contact with persons seeking attention. Ex/ assisting an old man to remove his coat. Therapeutic professional communication requires specific well-defined professional skills. Ex/ telling someone how to get ready for an operation. Therapeutic professional communication takes place between a person who has a specific need and a person who is skilled in techniques that can diminish that problem. As in human relations skills however, how you feel about yourself can directly affect how successful you are in social and therapeutic communications.
