Positive control: consists of all conditioning and stimulus control that is based on positive reinforcement. Increases the frequency of operants, and causes predictive stimuli to become css that elicit pleasurable emotions: under positive control, learning new knowledge or skills is enjoyable and makes people eager to develop to their human potential under it. Negative control: consists of all conditioning and stimulus control that is based on punishment and negative reinforcement. 2 ways to increase positive control and 3 ways to decrease negative control on desirable behaviours: primary reinforcers: for a child, this is usually their parents. Their parents give them tactile stimulation (touching, tickling etc) and provide the basic needs (food, fluids, warmth, shelter) which are all very rewarding. Differences aren"t bad but too many differences can prevent your partner from enjoying their activities. Decreasing negative control: in everyday life, desirable behaviours are under partial negative control.
