Who regulates food additives in Canada?
Food and Drug Regulations under the authority of health
Canada.
There is a list of food additives that are permitted!
If the food additive is not on the list, the
manufacturer is required to submit
• info on the proposed use
• evidence of its safety
• info on the additive’s effectiveness
The submission is evaluated by Health Canada scientists
before approval granted!
