Evidence-based practice- the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. Evidence-based practice is the use of mathematical estimates of the risk of benefit and harm, derived from high- quality research on population samples, to inform clinical decision-making in the diagnosis, investigation or management of individual patients. As you will learn in the chapter on levels of evidence, the higher the level of evidence, the better the evidence is. This takes into consideration your experiences, both personal and professional, to help guide you in how to best care for your patients. Evidence-based practice (ebp) a practice that is supported by scientific evidence, clinical expertise and client values.
