Evidence-based practice: practice that is supported by scientific evidence, clinical expertise and client values. It should be undertaken using a three-pronged, overlapping approach: the best possible research evidence: the higher the level of evidence, the better the evidence is. Using practice based on the best options currently available is best for the outcome of the patient. E(cid:448)ol(cid:448)i(cid:374)g o(cid:374)e(cid:859)s pra(cid:272)ti(cid:272)e is i(cid:373)porta(cid:374)t because research is updated every 3-5 years: clinical expertise: involves the (cid:272)o(cid:374)sideratio(cid:374) o(cid:374)e(cid:859)s experie(cid:374)(cid:272)es (both personal and professional) to guide one in how to best care for patients.
