Practice hypothesis testing and confidence interval problems: two methods have been used to train service agents who make repairs to cellular telephone broadcast equipment. During the last week, the company measured the time required to handle each of a sample of 150 calls for service. The calls were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 75 calls allotted to agents trained by the first method ( aaa ) and 75 allotted to agents trained by the second ( other ). For each sampled call the time in hours to complete the service call was recorded. A summary of the data is shown below: They estimated that this would translate into a loss of more than billion for online merchants during the 1999 holiday season (forbes, dec. 13, 1999). Another consulting firm asked a random sample of 60 on-line shoppers to each test a different randomly selected commerce website.
