Midterm ii review: america first: prior to wwii, charles lindbergh put his celebrity behind this isolationist cause. Many believed america had no chance at winning and that it wasn"t in america"s best interest. 1960s, this was a nd civil defense document that outlined how to survive a nuclear attack. Each state had its own civil defense plan. The united nations developed this plan in order to avoid the economic problems that led to the great depression and wwii. It was important because it was the first international financial system. It eventually ended in the early 1970s: military industrial complex: in the early 1950s, president eisenhower warned against the growth of military industry. The military and business interests were closely connected. This was a significant and dangerous development because military dependence diverted money from domestic issues. This issue dominated the american economy well into the 1960s: the period ca. 1920-1965 saw tremendous transformations in both domestic and foreign policy.
