Below are items that you should know in preparation for the second exam the exam will consist of 50 multiple choice questions, covering material reviewed during class and/or in chapters 6 & 7. To aid in preparation, we will review any questions together during the class immediately prior to the exam day. Facsimile technology- all modes of mass communication based on this process of copying. Fidelity- a way to describe how faithfully a facsimile represent the original. Electronic- cd players, dvd players, laptops: signal to noise ratio. The amount of signal present compared to the amount of noise: oscillation and the waveform. Oscillation- a basic concept of audio and video signal ex. Constant velocity- 16,000 miles per second (speed of light) Wavelike motion: velocity of electromagnetic energy speed of light. Amplitude: the height of wavelength from top to bottom; signifies strength.
